Molecular Mechanism of Brain Development Leads to the Mind and Behavior

The human brain is made up of approximately one hundred billion neurons, forming complex neural networks and thereby controlling mind and behavior. But how does the brain develop and work properly? Answering this question is not only a critical issue for the life sciences but is also vital to society, for which an increase in neurodevelopmental disorders has become a major public health concern. Thus, overall, our group aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying brain development and its disorders. We identify genes related to neuronal, synaptic, and circuit development via a neuroinformatics perspective in the mouse cerebellar cortical circuit, and furthermore analyze their function by employing a multidisciplinary approach from the molecular to behavioral level.

BrainTx (formerly CDT-DB)

The Brain Transcriptome Database (BrainTx) project aims to create an integrated platform to visualize and analyze our original transcriptome data and publicly accessible transcriptome data related to the genetics that underlie the development, function, and dysfunction stages and states of the brain. BrainTx was developed from the Cerebellar Development Transcriptome Database (CDT-DB).
